How It Works
At the beginning, we start the treatment by focusing on your selected areas. We focus on actively growing hair. This gives you the best immediate results.
It is the melanin in your hair that absorbs the heat from the Candela laser and heats the entire hair shaft.
At this point, the hair follicle is destroyed (or possible weakened due to the treatment process). This has the effect of detaching it from the hair shaft.
Once the hair follicle is destroyed, it’s impossible for hair to grow back. This gives you the desired effect of being completely without hair in that selected area of your body.

Preparation
- Avoid direct sun light for 2-4 weeks prior to treatment
- Do not tweeze, wax or pluck the area being treated
- Treatment area needs to be make-up free
- Fake tanning products CANNOT be used 3-4 weeks prior to treatment
- The area(s) must be cleanly shaved 24hourd prior to treatment to avoid skin irritation
Aftercare
- Cool the area using aloe vera gel to reduce redness, inflammation or irritation
- Avoid hot baths/showers, exercise/sports, swimming, saunas and sun bathing for 48 hours

Is there any downtime?
Patients can resume daily activities immediately after treatment. To reduce any redness or swelling after treatment, it is recommended to apply a cool compress and aloe vera gel. Additionally, it is recommended to avoid sun exposure after laser treatment and apply a sunblock with SPF 30 or above.
When will I start seeing results?
Treatment results may vary depending on your specific needs and the type of treatment you are undergoing. Typically for hair removal, a minimum of 6-8 treatments are recommended.
Does Laser Hair Removal Treatment have any side effects?
The skin may be slightly red and/or swollen immediately following the procedure, which typically lasts from a few minutes to several hours. However, this will be discussed up front on the consultation so that you are 100% informed.
Can you treat all skin types?
Our Medical Grade 4B GentleMax Pro Plus are the gold standard in all Fitzpatrick Skin Types.The 1064 nm Nd:YAG laser, optimal for Fitzpatrick Skin Types IV-VI. The 755 nm Alexandrite laser is designed for Fitzpatrick skin Types I-III. What can you expect?
The number of treatment sessions required varies from patient to patient, the number and timing of these treatments will be determined by your provider.
The duration of each session varies from person to person, but on average they last about 20-30 minutes. (Varies depending on treatment area)
The GentleMax Pro Plus laser combined with a unique Zimmer Cooling System, so most patients find GentleMax Pro Plus treatments extremely tolerable. Some people experience a sensation similar to having an elastic band snapped against the skin during treatment.
If you do have any redness or swelling after treatment, this should resolve in a couple of hours. Permanent side effects are rare but should be discussed with your provider.
You will be able to resume normal activities after each session, but you may be given specific advice, such as avoiding sun or abrasive skin cleansers on treated skin for a few days. You should always follow specific instructions from your healthcare provider
How does the treatment work?
The GentleMax Pro Plus Series lasers work by selectively targeting a specific chromophore (colour). This could be the melanin in a hair follicle or pigmented lesion.The laser light is absorbed into the target and heats that target to a high enough temperature to destroy it, but without damaging the surrounding tissue. The epidermal (skin) protection is provided by the Zimmer Cooling System.
Why does hair removal take multiple treatments for permanent results?
Hair grows in repeating cycles, and only in the actively growing phase does the hair contain enough pigment to absorb sufficient energy to disable the hair follicle. When hair is in the dormant phase, it has little or no pigment, and it cannot absorb laser energy.
What causes excessive hair growth?
Excessive hair growth in women often results from normal biological changes that women undergo throughout life, such as puberty, pregnancy, menopause and aging. Any one of these changes may cause an increase in hair growth in areas which never had hair before, or cause a small problem area to worsen
What does the GentleMax Pro Plus Treat?
The GentleMax Pro Plus is best known for hair removal for all skin types, providing up to 95% permanent hair reduction after a course of treatments.
