What is cosmelan®?
Pigmentation concerns are a growing, global issue; they affect more than 90% of adults over the age of 50. Regardless of skin colour, they are a significant issue because of their unattractive appearance and negative psychological and emotional impact, affecting quality of life.
Skin hyperpigmentation is caused by abnormal production of melanin, the pigment responsible for skin colour, and is a consequence of uncontrolled, localized overproduction of melanin by the melanocytes, causing irregular skin coloration and dark spots.
Cosmelan depigmenting solution by Mesoestetic, is a professional depigmenting treatment designed to eliminate or reduce dark spots of melanic origin on skin while unifying the skin tone and enhancing skin luminosity. Cosmelan is the world’s best-selling depigmenting treatment.
Cosmelan ® is effective against all types of spots of melanin origin, all types of skins and ethnicities.

Melasma

Solar and senile lentigo

Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH)

Freckles
The synergistic action of all the method products ensures:
- Higher depigmenting efficacy
- Greater comfort during treatment
- Lower risk of repigmentation
Treatment protocol and its phases
The complete cosmelan treatment includes one session in cabin that performs an intensive depigmentation action and a home regimen to follow by the patient for a melanogenesis regulating action.
Session in cabin
Phase 1
intensive depigmenting action
performed in cabin
At home
Phase 2, 3 AND 4
Home regimen to follow by the patient begins. First phase depigmentation process continues and the home regime for a regulating action begins

cosmelan 1:
depigmenting mask with an intensive action

cosmelan 2:
depigmenting cream with regulating action

melan recovery:
repair balm

melan 130+ pigment control:
specific anti-spot photoprotection
How does cosmelan peel treatment work?

All-in-one treatment to obtain short and long-term results thanks to its dual action: corrective and regulating.
corrective action
It removes the deposits of melanin, a pigment that gives colour to the spot in the outermost skin layers
regulating action
It acts directly in the melanocyte, a cell where melanin is produced, to control its production and keep hyper pigmentation under control
Treatment Phases
Cosmelan® protocol has four differentiated phases required to reach the target result.
It is a long process where persistence and compliance with the protocol, as indicated, are key to achieve a successful final result.
Cabin intensive depigmentation
Phase 1 what happens during this phase?
The spot fades superficially while renewal of the first skin layers is stimulated, thus
improving its appearance and texture.
how do you remove cosmelan 1 mask?
After the time indicated by the professional, cosmelan 1 mask must be removed by carefully rinsing with warm water. Repeat as many times as necessary until the product is completely eliminated.
what feelings do you expect when removing the mask?
- 24-48 hours after removing the mask:
The skin is sensitive, tight and can show redness.
- 48-72 hours after phase 1:
Start of phase 2 and home treatment.
Home continuous depigmentation
Phase 2 what happens during this phase?
48-72 hours after removing the mask, treatment continues!
The corrective action of the method must be completed, regulating overproduction of melanin, the pigment that gives colour to the spot. To keep under control the melanocyte, the cell where melanin is produced, we start with the daily application of cosmelan 2 together with melan recovery and melan 130+ pigment control.
what feelings are to be expected?
- In this phase, you can usually feel itching, burning and notice the skin dryer and tight. The skin can be irritated, sensitised and can start to peel.
- This is normal, it is part of the process and together with the flacking your spots will begin to fade progressively in a visible manner.
Home Regulation of hyperpigmentation
Phase 3 what happens during this phase?
We continue acting on the origin of the problem: localised overproduction of the pigment. Therefore, we must regulate melanin overproduction, to prevent these spots from reappearing and even out skin tone progressively.
what feelings are to be expected?
- You will feel your skin more renewed, with a “new” glow and see how any imperfection is reduced… but the treatment has not ended yet!
- This is key to obtain the best results and keep your skin pigment overproduction controlled. It is important that, despite the good feelings, you do not give up at this point.
Home Control of reappearance
Phase 4 what happens during this phase?
In this phase, recurrence of the spots treated and formation of new spots is prevented, prolonging the result of the method for a longer time, as the susceptibility to developing spots is a potential risk for your skin.
what feelings are to be expected?
- In this phase you will notice your skin has recovered its hydration levels, has stabilised and looks even and renewed.
- You are close to obtain the best results, follow the guidelines and do not forget to protect yourself from the sun, which is the main risk factor for repigmentation.
Frequently asked questions on cosmelan®
__Answers From The Experts
Does cosmelan® work with any type of spot?
What is the best time to usecosmelan®?
How long does the treatment last?
How long will it take to see the results? Why should I continue the treatment if the results already seen before completing it?
What happens if I stop applying the home treatment?
Not using photo protection, melan 130+ pigment control, involves a very high risk that the spot returns, as skin is more sensitive and receptive to external aggressions during the treatment
Can I combine the cosmelan method with other depigmentation treatments?
In the last months where we reduce the application guidelines of cosmelan 2 only to the night, we can combine it with treatments that help prolong the results, such as melan tran3x concentrate and melan tran3x gel-cream.
